When his girlfriend got tired of his demands for rough sex, he started hanging around the hospital waiting for patients. However, he soon found that a side effect was that he now experienced pain as pleasure. Dawson blacked out for a few minutes, but when he came around he seemed all right at first. No-one could diagnose what was wrong with him, and Dawson was connected to the senator when he suddenly died. Everything was going great for Dawson until one night a senator who had been poisoned was brought into the hospital. Meanwhile, Dawson also used the interface to enhance sex with his girlfriend by feeling her orgasms as well as his own. Juniper's, a scientific hospital which offered its patients free health care in return for being allow to test experimental treatments on them. In his past, Haynes was a neurological research recruiter for St.
The first thing they come across is a device that looks like an electronic hairnet. Haynes offers to give her a tour, in which he recounts the stories of the artefacts he has collected, shown in flashback during the episode. She meets the proprietor, Rolo Haynes (Douglas Hodge), and explains she is out this way as her father lives nearby and her mother suggested she stop by to surprise him. It not only holds the viewer's attention while it plays, it enthralls your thoughts long after the credits roll.Whilst waiting for her car to charge in a remote charging station, Nish (Letitia Wright) comes across the neighbouring Black Museum, which houses "authentic criminological artefacts". The thought provoking subject matter combine with powerful, desolate stories and excellent performances to create one of the most unique and brilliant shows that I have seen. Watching it was an exhausting experience that shook me deeply. Let me be clear, it will not leave you feeling fulfilled. It unflinchingly explores the issues of society through deeply intimate stories and characters and their interactions with technology. Black Mirror is disturbing in the best possible way. The second episode in particular is storytelling of the highest form. The episodes may be watched in any order, as they are all completely independent of one another. The presence of bestiality in the first episode could very well deter some viewers, but I would remind them that the show is Twilight Zone-esque in structure as well as theme.
Although this is obviously the intent, one cannot help but wonder at the creators' bleak outlook on the world. This show is not for those looking exclusively for entertainment, as the episodes leave you with a distinctly empty feeling. The stories are compelling and the acting is phenomenal. Each self-contained episode is brilliantly crafted and produced. The black mirror is the screen that rules our lives. This is done through the theme of technology, hence the second meaning. The first interpretation is that the show looks inwards, at the darker aspects of humanity and society. The double entendre that is Black Mirror's name summarizes the show perfectly.
